Imperfected Statue

Looking more at stone statues with imperfections, I can get more inspiration from their discolouration and cracked textured faces.

The crack has presented a movement in the face structure and how the nose and eye sits on the face, this is an aspect I would play with, the re positioning of features...

This image I found with the blue face is such a stunning colour. the chips and cracks reveal a bronzed layer underneath... Interesting

Although I previously looked at Christian Saints, I found this image of a Buddha statue and the chipped paint shows delicate cracks and imperfections in the lip colouring and skin. Another aspect which I could play with the thinking about the technique of the makeup application.

I found another couple of images of angels and statues which show signs of moss spreading around them, the green had made their faces discoloured and appear a shade darker. I think this gives them a darker more haunted feel. This links to the combination of  the words'dirty' and 'saint.

This second man I found more haunting due to his mouth being slightly open and his eyes being completely one colour...
